(Here's hoping we see Rob and director David Cronenberg promoting the film at Cannes next year)

According to Screen Daily, eOne did a lot of business at Cannes with Map to the Stars, and we reportedly have a production start date:

Deals have closed with Benelux (Cineart), Poland (Monolith), Scandinavia (Mis Label), Iceland (Gmight), Switzerland (PatheAG), Portugal (Lusomundo), Turkey (Calinos), Israel (Shani), Greece (Hollywood) and Former Yugoslavia (Discovery).

Deals are set to close shortly for C.I.S., Middle East, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Hong Kong and India.

Production is scheduled to kick off on July 8 in Toronto and Los Angeles on the ghost story that also doubles as a commentary on celebrity culture in Los Angeles.

Carey Mulligan Shares Quick Update On Working With Rob

As we first told you yesterday, Deadline is reporting Carey Mulligan has signed on to a new film set to begin production this fall, meaning a likely no go for Hold on to Me this year. She had previously mentioned to MTV that things were delayed when it came to the indie project. Now in a new interview with Grazia magazine, she gives another update that seems a bit more promising:

Is the project with Robert Pattinson still a go?

Yes, we haven’t given up yet. So far it hasn’t worked, but the script is fantastic and working with Rob would be great fun.

So, we just have to sit tight everyone. More updates as we get them!

More of Cannes Rob This Year?.. Yes Please!

Here's something we can definitely look forward to if Rob does end up going to Cannes to promote Map to the Stars. Check out these new pics from when he was there last year. He was doing an interview for a French show.

Hoping we get more of this in the next few weeks!

'Map to the Stars' Headed To Cannes: First Poster & Synopsis Revealed

Rumor is Rob is headed to Cannes (May 15-26) to promote the upcoming Map to the Stars. Today, we got a sneak peek at what that promo will look like. Hollywood is on fire and Rob is smack in the middle of it!

Official Synopsis via eOne:

Led by the loathsome yet funny and touching child-star Benjie, we witness the convoluted world of shallow, selfish celebrities and their minions, all of whom are about to be manipulated and destroyed by the young woman who literally represents the fruit of their twisted machinations, Agatha, Benjie’s tormented, apparently psychotic sister. As much as it is a sharp, comic look at a vacant and corrupt world, MAPS TO THE STARS is also a haunting ghost story.

Rob will be joined by an A-list cast, as he reunites with Cosmopolis director David Cronenberg and Composer Howard Shore. Stay tuned for the latest details as the film gets ready to begin filming in July, with locations in L.A. and Toronto.
